Varsity Wrestling: Gilbert 3rd at Cardinal Newman Tournament

The Varsity Wrestling Team finished 3rd in the Cardinal Newman X-mas tournament. Chris Dyer finished 1st and was voted Most Valuable Wrestler for tournament. Matt Risinger also finshed 1st. Other finalists were: JP Moody 2nd, Austin Shealy 3rd, Nathan Brazel 3rd, Chris Price 4th, and Madison Leitner 4th.

Boys Varsity Basketball: Gilbert 51 Mid-Carolina 50

The Boyss Basketball team beat Mid-Carolina 51-50. Russell Kennedy led the Indians with 18 points. Antoine Stroman added 10 points. Gilbert is now 4-3

The Girls Basketball team lost to Mid-Carolina 46-41. Kathryn Cochcroft led the Indians with 15 points. Keysey Hancock added 11 points. Gilbert is now 4-3

JV Wrestling: Gilbert 3rd at Cardinan Newman Tournament

The JV Wrestling Team competed in the Sting Wrestling Tournament at Irmo. Finalists for Gilbert were: Connaly Kendrick 2nd, Gabe McNatt 3rd, Cody Crosley 3rd, Mason Cox 4th, Chris Smith 4th, Travis Keisler 4th, and Preston Clarke 4th.

The Girls Basketball team beat W-S 42-12. Kathryn Cochcroft led the Indians with 15 points. Keysey Hancock added 13 points. Gilbert is now 4-2

Varsity Wrestling: Gilbert 48 Pelion 28 and Gilbert 51 B-C 24

The Varsity Wrestling Team beat Pelion (48-28) and B-C (51-24) in a 3-way match at Pelion. Travis Keisler and Sage Price both earned their 1st ever varsity win. Other Gilbert winners were: Nathan Brazel, Madison Leitner, Chris Price, Austin Shealy, Chris Smith, Chris Dyer, and JD Jumper. The team is now 2-1 in team matches.

The Varsity Wrestling Team lost to Airport 48-33. Gilbert winners were Nathan Brazell, Madison Leitner, JP Moody, JD Jumper, Austin Shealy, and Chris Dyer.

Varsity Wrestling 6th at Palmetto Classic

The Varsity Wrestling Team finished 6th out of a field of 14 teams in the Palmetto Classic at Irmo. Nathna Brazell finished 2nd, Austin Shealy finished 3rd, JP Moody, Chris Dyer, and Madison Leitner finished 4th for the Indians.

Varsity Volleyball State Championship: Bishop England 3 Gilbert 1

The varsity volleyball team came up short in their quest for a State Championship, falling to Bishop England 3-1. The scores were 25-23, 18-25, 13-25, and 16-25. The Volleyball team finishes as Upper State Champions for the 3rd time in 4 years.

Varsity Football: Gilbert 49 Crescent 23

The Varsity Football team beat Crescent 49-23 in the 1st round of the AA Playoffs. Omar Bethea rushed for 213 yards and scored 3 TD's to lead the Indians. Connor Owings rushed for 1 TD. Mikey Morrison caught 4 passes for 100 yards and returned an INT 62 yards for a TD. The team is now 5-6 and travels to Cheraw Friday at 7:30 for round 2.

Varsity Volleyball Upper State Championship: Gilbert 3 Chesnee 0

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team in their victory over Chesnee 3-0 in the Upper State Championship.  The scores were 25-23, 25-12, 25-21. The Lady Indians will now play for the State Championship at White Knoll on Saturday at 1:30 vs Bishop England.

Congratulations to the Gilbert volleyball senior Kathryn Cochcroft on being named to the North-South Volleyball All-Star Team. Kathryn will represent the Indians at the Volleyball All-Star Games in November at Erskine College.

Grayson Harley named Region 3-AA Player of the Year

Congratulations to the Gilbert tennis senior Grayson Harley on being named the Region 3-AA Player of the Year. Grayson will represent the Indians at the the Girls Open Singles Tennis Tournament on November 11-12, 2011 at the Lexington County Tennis Complex (Oak Grove).  Play will begin at 2:00pm.

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team in their victory over Indian Land 3-1 in the 3rd round of playoffs.  The scores were 27-25, 25-23, 21-25, and 25-22.  The Lady Indians will now play for the Upper State Championship at Chesnee High School on Thursday at 6:00

The Varsity Football team beat Eau Claire 42-22. Omar Bethea rushed for 229 yards and scored 4 TD's to lead the Indians. Connor Owings rushed for 1 TD and passed for 1 TD. Will Owens caught 1 TD pass of 39 yards. The team is now 4-6 and 3-2 in the conference.

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball in their 3-1 victory over Woodruff in the 2nd round of the playoffs.  They travel to Indian Land Monday for round 3 of the playoffs at 6:00.

Cross Country Region Meet: Gilbert Boys 1st---Girls 2nd

Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Cross Country Team on their performance at the Region Meet. The Boys team finished in 1st place winning the region championship. The Girls finished in 2nd place, 1 point out of 1st place.

Varsity Football: Gilbert 28 Keenan 24

The Varsity Football team beat Keenan 28-24. Connor Owings threw 3 TD passes to Mike Morrison and Omar Bethea added a 20-yard TD run. Collins Shirley had 15 tackles, Chris Dyer had 13 tackles, and Mike Morrison had 12 tackles to lead the defense. The team is now 3-5 and 2-1 in the conference.

Varsity Volleyball: Gilbert 3 Strom Thurmond 0

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball in their 3-0 victory over Strom Thurmond in last night's competition.  That victory clinched a region championship for the Lady Indians who are currently ranked #1 in Class 2A.  The Lady Indians have a 17-2-1 overall record and are 9-0 in the region.  Tomorrow night, the Lady Indians will travel to Eau Claire to play the Shamrocks in the final region match.  JV will begin at 5:00 and the varsity will follow at 6:30.

The Varsity Football team lost to Columbia 44-35. Connor Owings scored rushed for 189 yards and scored 2 TD's and passed for 2 more TD's. Mitch Spires and Omar Bethea caught TD passes. Bethea also added a TD run. The team is now 2-5 and 1-1 in the conference.

Congratulations to the Lady Indians defeated the Panthers 3 games to none with scores of 25-16, 25-18, and 25-8 and have improved their overall record of 13-2-1 and have a region record of 6-0 and are currently ranked #2 in the Coaches Poll for Class 2A.  Way to go Lady Indians!

Congratulations to the Varsity Football team on their 21-14 win over Batesburg-Leesville. Connor Owings scored rushed for 116 yards and scored 3 TD's to lead the Indians and the defense shut the Panthers out in the 2nd half. The team is now 2-4 and 1-0 in the conference.

Congratulations to the #5 ranked varsity volleyball team on finishing 3rd in the 12-team Carolina Challenge at North Central High School. Kelsey Hancock was selected as a member of the All Tournament team.  The Lady Indians will continue play tonight as they take on the Keenan Raiders at home.  The JV will start at 5:00 and the varsity will follow at 6:30.  Come support your Lady Indians
